Week 10 Industrial

Well this week has defiiatley been a hard one. Started out on Monday with Elder Galindo getting deat Johned... Hes definitly not a happy camper these days ( even tho he had never met the girl and she lives in a different country then him. ) Also i found out his first name this week and I thought its pretty funny. His full name is Nefi Abinadi flames Galindo. Also to make the week better ive been having a lot of problems with my knee, so ive been on bed rest for the whole week, and will be again this week. As a missionary, there is nothing more boring in the world than to be stuck in the house. I dont even know how many years worth of Liahonas ive read this week... But the countless hours of language time and Scripture time is quite nice. So about my knee, After we had our meeting with Presidente, we were walking back to the house and i felt a nice pop in my knee, and everyday its been a little worse. So i'm back in Physical therapy in the nicest hospital Mexico can offer, although their methods are a little strange. Usually they just put this gell stuff on it, and rub it. then put me on a vibration table for 10 mins. Then they use this little laser gun thingy on my knee for 10 mins. And to end the session they put me in this machine called the Aque Massage. Its just a high powered water jet massage for my whole body. ( how that helps my knee? Who knows? ) Todays they put these little pads on my knee and pumped me full of electricity. Im not really sure what to think of the sessions... I just know they arent helping me very much ha... Im still just chugging along and makng the best of this difficult time. All the Doctors are currently just guessing what is giving me the pain. Next week im getting an MRI. We'll see what happens. Pretty slow week this week. The Hospital is about 90 mins away from our house. Lots of time on the crazy buses. Loving every second of my mission! Even when times are hard I still find joy in being a missionary and representing Christs church. Love the people here. Well they either love us of really dont. Im doing a little better with the food. ( Mas o Menos ) They have this food called Gorditas which really just means little fattys or chubby ha... they are amazing and cheap and almost always clean... this week i also ate a baby goat. quite shocking to be picking around its rib cage and spine. they literally gave us each a whole baby goat. yum. So foods good. My bodys a little beat up, but im sure happy to be here. Everyday is a crazy adventure dealing with these crazy people. Most of all i love the gospel and learning more everyday about it. It is truly such a blessing to have it in our lives! Sorry this weeks letter is a little blah... Its been a strange week ha. Keep me in your prayers! I love and miss you all sooo much! find a way this week to get closer to Christ! You dont know how blessed you will be until you act! have a great week with week! Know youre allllll in my prayers. Until next week!

Week 9 Industrial

That should be exciting. I finally got the letter from pops that he sent three weeks after i left on my mish haha. ( Thanks for all the new articles about Ohio State to remind me of their flop ). Mother thank you so much for the ear plugs in my package. Every single missionary snores like a tuba. They are a life saver! As you can see in the picture our water is still very gross. No idea why. That bucket was my shower :) On Wed. we had the baptism of Lety. Like a half hour before she started having these crazy asthma attacks. very scary but we gave her a blessing and they went away. She has a powerful testimony and i think will be a strong member throughout her life :) We ran into the natives that live here. That was interesting since they speak a different kind of spanish. I didn't understand a thing haha. They are just these tribes that live in these little woodlands or something like that.. I dont really know? I think here i speak half spanish, and half sign language trying to explain stuff to my comp and others... The joys of Spanish. This week i really learned the power of prayer. We went to teach Margarita and Osvaldo one night, ( My first two baptisms ) and Margarita told us that Osvaldo wants nothing to do with the church anymore. I was absolutely devastated. We tried to talk to him and meet with him alllll week but he just wouldn't hear it. There were lots and lots of prayers for him this past week. Prayers that his heart would soften and he would talk to us. Then the crazy thing is that he just showed up on Sunday and wanted to talk to us. I guess he fell of the Wagon and got involved in some rough things and that he just felt guilty but that he wanted to change. I know our prayers were answered. It was a pretty awesome experience! Keep making good choices this week! I'm doing good down here! Melting like always! Love and miss you all! Till next week!!!

Week 8 Industrial

Hello hello from Gomez Palacio. I hope you all had a great week! Lifes pretty great down here! So usually writing home i can never remember what i want to say so this past week i took notes. Hope its a little better. This past week The rains of La Laguna started. which as it turns out arent really rains at all ha. They are these giant dust storms that role through the towns and just well... They are awful ha. They happen every year from january until March or April... yay.. Also last monday I found a store called Alsuper. In this store theres tons of food from The United States! Oh I was in Heaven. Gold Fish, Oreos, Dr. Pepper! Very expensive, but worth it ha. One of My American zone leaders loved me for sharing ha. Also ive been having lots of problems with Chicken here. Usually it affects my throat but ever sense I got here it only affects my eyes. They go blood red and swell up. The Relief Society pres. has put a ban on Chicken for me. So in reality its a blessing for me that my throat is fine. Our water in our house has been really really muddy for the past week, which makes showering and washing our clothes disgusting ha. We dont really know what to do about that ha. I found out that pretty much everyone in our ward that is active is family. Some how they are all related ha. Its like a giant puzzle im just slowly putting together. This week has been crazy hot ( at least for me ) its been in the upper 80s and low 90s... Which as it turns out is nothing ha. in the summer, theyve told me it gets up to 125f!!!! Im gunna melt. On Wed. we have another baptism of a lady named Lety. Shes very funny. She loves church but hates getting taught by the missionaries. Usually people here are the opposite. This Baptism is very special for me because shes the first one that i actually taught from the beginning! Shes very excited! Cockroaches are killing ha. they are EVERYWHERE! Also i guess they arent even bad right now. In the summers theyve told me youll wake up with them in your bed and in your shoes. Weekends here are so crazy. Sense theres literally nothing to do here, everyone just throws these crazy bad parties with drugs and drinking... Things get pretty loco ha. This week i heard all the horror stories from a few years ago when the cartels were really bad. Lets just say im grateful things are some what calm right now. Hno John said he thinks things will go crazy again any day now. Im not sure... ( hes a little craazy ha ). Also they changed our agenda back. we had the new one for like 3 days and then presidente caught some Elders breaking it. We will find out what hes changing tomorrow during our zone meeting. Im guessing no 7:30 tho :/  It was a great 3 days ha! Lifes really good down here. Everydays a little better with a new challenge. The secret is just to stay happy :) Lucky for me the way to happiness is the gospel! I love bringing this happiness to others down here! make good choices this week yall! I love and miss you like always! Till next week!

Week 7 Industrial

Hello y'all! Hope you all had a great week! Lifes goood here in the great city of Gomez Palacio. The big news this week is that they are changing our agenda! So the craziest part is that we get to sleep until 7:30! We were all shocked haha. for some reason they decided that the missionaries in Latin America deserve an extra hour of sleep. Also that means that we stay out an hour later till 10:00... Not sure if that's the greatest idea. I'll know for sure in a few weeks when presidente lets us know the official agenda. Also we know have our studies whenever we want throughout the day... And they are giving us an hour for dinner. We are all pretty excited about these things. They explained that they want to give us more freedom. This new agenda will start in the next few weeks. we'll see how it goes ha. This past week has been freezing here. The hard part about the cold here is that you never can get warm because no houses have heat. I'm often sleeping in my big heavy coat and gloves ha. Ill take the cold over the heat that will be here in a few months :/ we are doing great here in Industrial. We have a few baptisms coming up... Hopefully ha... Everyone here listens to us, but no one wants to go to church. Oh the Joys... I can tell you im very sick of beans and eggs. There's been a few days this week where we´ve had them for every meal... ugh... But all is well. Everyone here is quite mad with Trump ha. Usually when we knock on a door, the first thing they ask me is what i think of Trump ha. Hopefully things cool down soon. Also father thank you for giving me the hardest plant om the world to grow ha. My venus flytrap is officialy planted. The seeds were required to be in the freezer for 1 month before planting them ha... My comp thinks its very funny. Overall things are good. Not much happened this past week. The life of a missionary is pretty much always the same, with little crazy moments mixed in ha. Have a great safe week this week! know you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I sure love and miss you all more then you know! thank you for all the letters! they always make my day! Go read your scriptures ha. That's like the favorite time of my day! Till next week!

Week 6 Industrial

Well another week behind me family. Like always every week brings a new set of funny/weird stories haha. This past week was awesome! On Wed. we had the Baptism of this sweet little old lady whose life has just fallen apart. She has no money for food and her kids want nothing to do with her. She told us after her Bautismo that this is the first time in years that she has felt peace in her life. So the funny part of that day is that Elder Fuentes and I spent the whole day trying to heat the water for the font, because she made it very clear she would not be baptised in cold water. Unfortunately both wards lost the key to the boiler, so we weren't able to use that. So we spent hours with our little electro stick thing( that we use to heat our buckets for showers ) filling up buckets of hot water and pouring them into the font. It did pretty much nothing ha. Because shes so old and frail both me and Elder Fuentes were in the water with her. It took three times! to get her to go all the way under. The first time she went under up to like her cheeks ha. the second time everything was under but Elder Fuentes forgot he was holding her hand. But ya know what they say, third times the charm. The water was ice cold and we felt really bad about everything so we took her some dinner after. Even after all that she was so happy with her choice to be baptised. Amazing lady. The next day we were in a lesson with the poorest family i've seen here. they just have absolutely nothing. The lady offered me and Elder Fuentes this drink that she had made for us, so we couldn't turn her down. We told her we'd have a tiny glass. she came out with these giant full glasses of this weird green liquid. I took 1 sip and just about threw up ha. it was the consistency of snot and tasted awful!!! I took a few more sips but i just knew i couldn't. I looked at Elder Fuentes and he looked like he wanted to die ha. Thats when i decided to teach about prayer and told the family to go in their backyard to find 2 special prayer rocks. When they left, we scrambled through their house, found a plastic bag, and dumped both our glasses in it, then the bag of snot drink into my bag. So that was pretty funny/terrible... I have many more stories to share, but do not have time today. Life's definitely crazy down here. The spicy food is killing me like always, but i'm doing well like always! Today i got a new comp named Elder Galindo. He's awesome! Also ive decided that Mexico is not made for tall people. Im always hitting my head on doors and lights haha. Oh the joys. Keep making good choices and reading in the scriptures. I can promise all of you that that is the way to real joy and happiness. I love and miss you all with all my heart! Have a great week!!

Week 5 Industrial

Another great week here in the grand city of Gomez Palacio! I´ve decided that living in Mexico is like living 15 to 20 years in the past. At least ha. All the cars and buses are from the 70´s or 80´s for the most part. Old American rock is what everyone loves here, Everyone wears crocs.. Ive always wondered how crocs havent gone bankrupt. Now i know... Mexico is just a funny place ha. Especially here i think. Its so close to America that everyone wears clothes with places from America. Name a College or a National Park, and im betting ive seen someone wearing something from there... Also this place is just full of cowboys. Good old Mexican Cowboys. Also this makes the language quite hard, because they all speak with a southern accent. Its very hard to understand them ha... They just add these weird endings to all their words. Its awful ha, but also funny. This last week was really good! met lots of new people who are very accepting to the Gospel. Theres this one little lady named Juanita that must be 80 years old that we started teaching this week. Half way through our lesson we just heard these screams of rage coming from this little room in the corner of her house. She then went on to explain that her son has been locked in that  room for 15 years because i guess when they let him out he just attacks people and tries to kill people. She said he cant talk and that hes got serious problems. ( Obviously ). so yeah, she just puts a tray of food under the door 3 times a day. So that was a little scary. I felt like i was in a horror story. So that was fun. Had a very spiritual experience this week. Me and Elder Fuentes were heading to an appointment with a family in one of the less safe areas of town. While walking i got a very strong impression to stop walking and turn around. which is what i did ha. Even tho Elder Fuentes was not happy with me. The next day when we talked to the family they started telling us about these guys in the street last night doing drugs and beating eachother up in the street... I know that the lord is keeping me safe and im very grateful to have the holy ghost with me always. Its truly an amazing blessing im my life. I see miracles in my life everyweek like this one. My testimony has grown more then you can even imagine in just 2 months. Especiallly of the Prophet jose smith. I have a picture of him in Liberty Jail on my desk, and every time i look at it, it gives me the confidence i need for the day. He had such a hard life and so many trial and afflictions. Mine are small compared to his.. good week this week! bautismo next week i think! lots going on. I love you all and miss you all. youre all in my prayers!!! keep making good choices!!! till next week!
